Free writing on Christmas day

It’s hard to meditate on a year gone by in public unless it was a smashing success. So you won’t see me gloating on these pages; no sir. Not to say things weren’t done: finished my exec MBA, travelled to Israel and Palestine, to China and met some kick ass people. It’s just that these are not the goals, all means to an end and the end is still not in my grasp. So, no gloating.

I went to see MI4 or Ghost Protocol and it was entertaining. I’m now officially a director groupie – the # of times I said to friends as a way of explaining why I wanted to see it: “its directed by Brad Bird, you know, the guy who did the Incredibles…” was a bit over the # of carpals on one hand. Which is to say, too much. Interesting movie nonetheless, though. Implausible scenarios all, but the one that I did obsess about was that they disarmed a nuclear device seconds from detonation in San Francisco. All the way from Mumbai. I figure if you add the speed of light + cloud cover + line of sight, satellite uplink and downlink would probably take a wee bit of time longer than depicted. But honestly that is just being isanely engineery. Lot’s of the drama was simply too much to be taken at face value (though I was perfectly happy to slop it up as part of the entertainment).

2 things matter in my life – writing and creating successful products. I’m trying to get on with it.
